ChicagoEFT IN-PERSON Externship: May 9-12, 2022

Transform the way you work with Couples and earn 28 CE credits at this 4 day intensive training! The Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Externship, developed by Dr. Susan Johnson, is an immersion into the science and power of attachment and emotion. You will learn how to shift the way you understand couples in distress and change the way you work with families, couples, and individuals. This is an experiential and didactic training that will help you be more effective in your clinical practice as well as strengthen relationships in your own life!  This is an official EFT Externship, endorsed by the Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT). 

This training is capped at 65 participants and will be held in a lecture hall that holds 139 people. We will follow Covid protocols for in-person learning that are current at the time of the training.

 

Location: Meyer Science Center, Room 145/Buyse Lecture Hall, 430 Howard St., Wheaton, IL. Meyer Science Center is .3 miles from the College Avenue Metra station on the Union Pacific West Line.  There is ample free parking nearby.

CE CREDIT: This training qualifies for 28 continuation education credits.  ChicagoEFT is licensed to offer CE’s for LMFT, LCPC and LCSW professionals in the state of Illinois. However, many states have reciprocity agreements and you may be able to use CE’s offered through this training. Please check with your state professional boards.

Psychologists can receive CE’s from the co-sponsor, The Center for Family and Relational Health at Wheaton College, a regionally accredited college.

We will meet each day from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. CENTRAL

  • Day 1: EFT-The Model, The Research & The Map
  • Day 2: EFT Stage 1, How to Help Couples De-escalate and Stabilize Their Relationship
  • Day 3: EFT Stage 2, How to Deepen Experiences of Emotional Safety, also an Introduction to EFT with Families
  • Day 4: EFT Stage 3, Consolidating Change, also Dealing with Impasses such as Betrayals and an introduction to EFT with Individuals

Join Certified EFT trainer Gretchen Harro for all 4 days and Lisa Palmer-Olsen for days 3-4 for this dive into Emotionally Focused Therapy.

Gretchen Harro, MA, LMFT is a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer.  She is the owner of Relationship Works LLC, a private practice in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. For more than 25 years Gretchen has helped couples shift from disconnection to a safe, secure connection. Her great passions are to help couples rediscover the joy of their friendship and to help therapists become more effective and efficient in their work, which also brings her joy!  Gretchen has co-led numerous EFT Externships and Core Skills training in multiple states.  Gretchen is known for her personal warmth and for adding creative elements to the training to make the learning more accessible to multiple learning styles.  Gretchen is also Vice President of the board of the Chicago Center for Emotionally Focus Therapy

 

 

Lisa Palmer-Olsen

Lisa Palmer-Olsen, PsyD, is an ICEEFT Certified EFT Therapist, Supervisor and Trainer. Lisa frequently travels the country to provide EFT Externships and Core Skills trainings. She is a Founder and one of the Directors of the Emotionally Focused Couples Training and Research Institute at Alliant International University. Lisa completed her dissertation research on how to train and teach Emotionally Focused Couples therapy to professionals. Dr. Sue Johnson, the founder of EFT, was part of her dissertation committee. She also offers advanced-level workshops in specialized EFT topics, as well as online supervisor trainings, supervisor retreats, and support groups to provide therapists-in-training with extra support.   Lisa is known for her warmth, humor, and incredible knowledge base.
